Warning Graphic Pictures...
Okay you've been warned! So the next morning Maddie woke up and I checked her burns out first thing. I was surprised to see it looked worse then the night before. I decided it would be best to call the Pediatricians office to see what they thought. They of course wanted me to bring her in. Our regular doctor was booked so we met with the new Dr in the office. When we went there Maddie had band-aids on her foot. Before he took them off he told her she could hit him if he hurt her. Well Maddie totally hit the Dr! I was dying! He said that if the burn on her leg was any bigger he would have to send us to the burn clinic but since it wasn't he prescribed a burn cream and gave us instructions on how to care for it. He also said no swimming, bike riding and to not let the sun hit the burn. Maddie was pretty bummed after the appointment. We headed over to Smith's to fill her prescription and picked up a new Beanie Boo for her.

We started following Doctor's orders and switched band aids every morning and night and applied cream each time as well. As the cream did its thing it made the burn look grosser and grosser!

As the burn looked worse and worse I was getting worried. After talking to everyone I decided to call and talk to the nurse. She had me email her a picture. I sent the pic from the morning after the burn(7/5) and then one from that morning(7/8). She called after the Doctor looked at them and referred us to the burn clinic at the U. I called them and they weren't able to get us in until Monday the 11th.

Of course the burn started to look better the day before the appointment but we still went. Figured better safe then sorry. They checked her all out and were so good with her, she didn't even think about punching anyone there. Her nurse's name just happened to be Madi, which we thought was cool. They said everything was looking good and that we should stop using the burn cream and switch to bacitracin. They also said no swimming, bike riding, tumbling or dance for at least 10 more days. We had to wait until the burn was healed to new skin so that she wouldn't get an infection or damage the new skin. They said it would probably be about three months until it looked all the way better.

So poor Maddie couldn't go to tumbling class anymore. She only got to go to one of the two months. Plus summer dance had started and she couldn't do that either. She was also super bummed about swimming and riding her bike since those are her favorite things to do.

Our awesome principal found out about Maddie and wanted to come visit and bring her a little something. So Ms. Larsen and the assistant principal Ms Prestwich came by our house to visit with Maddie.

Dealing with the burn definitely was a bummer and killed the summer a bit. We still went to the pool but not as much since we didn't want to be mean to Maddie. I think the worst for her was when the girls were invited to a birthday party that involved swimming. She was pretty sad sitting on the outside. It was good to see as we got to the of July how much better it was looking.
