1...2...3...BLUE JAYS!!!

Oh Man!!! What a season!!! It was SOOOO much fun to have the boys play baseball together. Tanner was automatically a Blue Jay again this year but  Landon was supposed to have to try out but we requested he be placed on the same team as Tanner and lucky for us they were okay with that!

So the season started out slow(well except for practicing 6 days a week), our first game ended early because of rain. Our 2nd and 4th games were cancelled because of rain(made them up later). Both the boys started in the outfield, sometimes sitting out. This was Landon's first time playing baseball so he had to learn the game.

The Blue Jays were picked to represent the baseball program in the city parade!

A little impromptu team picture before the game. Luckily Dave was there to grab a pic with his phone.

On June 20th Landon had an awesome game! He stole home twice, racked up some RBIs(his specialty) and when I looked for him in the outfield I couldn't find him. He had moved up to play 2nd base! I hadn't brought the camera of course so we just got cell phone pics.

On Landon's birthday we had a double header of sorts. We were scheduled to play our last  regular season game against the Padres but we also had to finish playing our first game which was also the Padres. The boys played hard and won both! Landon had some great stops which his coach brought up after the game.

Playing 2nd

It's a hit!

Getting ready to steal
Turns out Grayson was a lot easier last year at the games. Last year he was a newborn and slept through the games. This year he got bored hanging out in the stroller forever. We brought lots of snacks to try and keep him happy.

1 2 3...BLUE JAYS!

The playoffs started Saturday June 27th. We played the Astros first. They had the worst record this season. The boys played well. Landon got 2 RBIs off his first hit, he was also the first on our team to get a hit that day since the rest had been walked or had gotten out. Since we won that game we had to play another, against a little harder team the Pirates. We lost only two games in the regular season and one of those had been to the pirates. Well Blue Jays played hard and won. Tanner had an awesome hit and both the boys had some stops! Tanner got hit by the ball on his second time up but he stole his way to third and then ran home on a hit scoring the winning run! It was an awesome game! Landon was even awarded the game ball for all his hard work.

Didn't take my camera for the next playoff game on Monday against the Padres. I really thought we would be playing the White Sox, first place in regular season but they had been beat by the Padres. We won that game no trouble and so we were in the Championship game! So the way the tournament works is double elimination. After beating the Padres we were the only undefeated team in the tournament. The championship game is played against the winner of the losing bracket. If we lost the game we would get a second try since you have to lose two to be out. We were really hoping to just win and be done with it but the Tigers had other plans.
We played an outstanding 1st inning. It was stopped not by three outs but because we had scored 6 runs and there is a mercy rule, though it's questionable if this rule is in play in the tournament. I got video of Landon sliding in for a run just barely missing getting out. Unfortunately our team kind of lost it later on. Lots of errors. Landon on the other hand did awesome. The Tigers hit a lot of balls to him and he was able to rack up the outs with a quick throw to the 1st baseman.
After the hard loss the coach was telling them that they quit playing. Then he said well I guess I can't say all of you didn't play hard the whole game, Landon kept playing hard. Hard  to lose but cool Landon got recognized for his hard work.

So we got to go up against the Tigers once more the next night. The winner of this one would be the city champs. Well I didn't take any pics of the game, guess I was just too nervous! The Tigers did hit one pretty far out, Tanner ran after it, threw a great throw to Landon who then threw it to third and prevented a home run. Tonight everything went right. The team played great and we won! After the game at our normal post game team meeting(none of the other teams do this which is weird). Both coaches that were there gave Landon a lot of praise. They said he gets the award for most improved player. They said he started as nothing and ended just awesome! Yeah Landon may have let all the praise go to his head.

Wish I could have been a bit farther back so I could have gotten all the hats but the other parents were there.

CHAMPS!
